Standard Barge FAQ

Direct answers about heavy deck barges, charter terms, and global delivery.

What is the deckload of a Standard Barge?+
36,000 lb evenly distributed across the deck. Concentrated point loads are handled by adding strongbacks or moving up to the Heavy Duty Crane Barge.
How many Standard Barges fit on a flatbed truck?+
A 10×40 Standard Barge ships one per flatbed. A 10×20 fits one per flatbed as well due to the 10′ width. Back Lake Barges (8′ wide × 4′ deep) stack two-high without permits.
What freeboard does a Standard Barge maintain when loaded?+
At a full 36,000 lb evenly distributed deckload, the Standard Barge maintains approximately 2′6″ of freeboard depending on the section length and water density.
