Heavy Duty Crane Barge FAQ
Direct answers about heavy deck barges, charter terms, and global delivery.
- Choose Heavy Duty if you are running a crawler crane heavier than approximately 50 tons, or if you'll be working in surf, choppy water, or sites where extra freeboard matters. The 7′ depth nearly doubles the section modulus over the 5′ Standard Barge.
- The pin-flange system is identical, but mixing 5′ and 7′ depth in the same float creates a step at the deck. We recommend keeping each float to a single depth.
- Customers have run crawler cranes from 50 to 250 tons on multi-section Heavy Duty floats. Crane spec, mat plan, and water conditions all matter — call us with your spec sheet.
