Custom.
Your spec. Our shop.

Off-spec width, deeper sections, hopper configurations, integrated equipment mounts — if it floats and it's steel, we'll engineer and build it. Every custom build ships with stamped drawings and Transport Canada approval.

How we spec a build

Pick the size, pick the options. We quote it.

Every Sentinel custom build starts with three numbers: width, length, and depth. From there, we layer in the bow style, deck options, and any add-ons your crew actually needs. No padded packages, no options you'll never use.

Pricing is project-specific and competitive with base market rates — we quote on your exact spec rather than hiding behind a sticker price. Send the size and options below and we'll come back with a number, lead time, and stamped drawings.

Sizes

Standard widths and depths

8 ft wide

Tight access, smaller crews, back-lake and inland river work. Available 3, 4, or 5 ft tall.

10 ft wide

Our most-ordered section. Balances deck space, transport, and crane capacity. Available 3, 4, or 5 ft tall.

12 ft wide

Heavy deck loads, larger excavators and cranes, dedicated work platforms. Available 3, 4, or 5 ft tall.

Included

Comes standard on every section

Bow choice

Raked, square, or double-raked bow — your call, no upcharge. Pick what suits your tow and water.

Height options

3, 4, or 5 ft tall. Match draft and freeboard to your loads and waterway.

Blast & paint

Full sandblast and paint in any color, included. Brand it to your fleet at no extra cost.

Add-ons

Build it out for the work

Spudwells

Internal or external wells for spuds. Single or paired — common on piling and dredge support builds.

Spuds

8" or 10" spuds sized to your water depth. Priced by the foot.

Baffles

Internal compartmentalization for added stability and load distribution on deeper sections.

Deck hatches

Watertight access hatches for ballast checks, internal inspection, or storage.

Second epoxy coat

Two-component epoxy second coat for harsh saltwater or abrasive cargo service.

Bull rails / hoppers

Add bull rails to a Standard or Heavy Duty section for spoils handling — costs less than a dedicated hopper.

Buy in pairs

Most contractors order in pairs or 4-packs.

A single 10×40 section gets work done, but most of our customers run two or four together — pinned end-to-end or side-by-side — to make a real working platform for an excavator, crane, or piling rig. Ordering in pairs or 4-packs locks in better per-section pricing and fleet-discount terms.

If you're sizing your first fleet, tell us the equipment that's going on deck and the water you're working. We'll come back with a recommended pack size, spud configuration, and total quote.

Custom Build FAQ

Direct answers about heavy deck barges, charter terms, and global delivery.

What's the lead time on a custom build?+
Most custom barges deliver in 8 to 16 weeks depending on size, complexity, and shop loading. Stock-spec orders ship faster.
Will a custom barge get Transport Canada approval?+
Yes. We don't ship any barge — custom or stock — without stamped engineering drawings and Transport Canada approval.
Can you build a hopper barge for dredge spoils?+
Yes. Dedicated hopper builds, or bull rails added to a Standard or Heavy Duty section to do the same job for less.
